Meet The Meier Team: Geoffrey Gottlieb

Meet The Meier Team: Geoffrey Gottlieb

Geoff has been with The Meier Team for over seven years and is without question one of the hardest working agents in NYC.

Describe an average day.

I typically work around twelve hours a day, at least six days a week. For part of my day, I am running around doing showings, listing appointments, etc. When I am in the office, I try to segment sections of the day to focus on different tasks. Regardless of what I am doing, I am always going full speed and giving 100%.

What is the most rewarding experience you have had in the industry so far?

The friendships I have made with my clients! When I negotiate amazing deals for them, it is also very rewarding.

What can’t you live without in your apartment?

Perfect Pushups. I love to exercise!

What unique characteristics make you successful in this very competitive industry?

My work ethic. I try to be the hardest working real estate agent in the business. My use of analytics and data. I stay ahead of the pack by using technology and statistics to benefit my clients. Many people get emotional with residential real estate. I think logically and how I can benefit my clients financially on every transaction.

What do you do in your spare time?

I have been told my multiple people to get a hobby because I work so much. I love working hard and I will never stop pushing myself to improve. Besides my passion for selling real estate, I enjoy playing hockey, exercising, spending time with family and friends and exploring all that New York City has to offer.

What advice do you have for a newbie in the industry?

Do not fear rejection. There is so much rejection in this business. If you cannot handle rejection, residential real estate is not for you. Learn the market, have a mentor and work harder than everyone else.

What’s the biggest challenged you’ve faced so far?

Firstly, there is an exorbitant amount of licensed real estate agents throughout New York City. I feel that since Million Dollar listing has become so popular, we have seen a lot of people get into the business. Another challenge is the market. There is a lot of inventory and therefore listings are spending more time on the market. Unlike some other businesses, residential real estate is a two-part sale. The client has to hire you over thousands of other agents. Even if you win that sale, you need the client to close on a transaction to earn a commission. All the challenges make success in this business so rewarding!
